A story behind this collection:
I’ve been deeply immersed in developing a new body of work—a collection of ceramic pieces inspired by one of nature’s most quiet wonders: lichen. There’s something incredibly captivating about lichen—the way it clings to stone, wood, and bark with an ancient, symbiotic grace. I’ve long been drawn to its earthy palette, intricate textures, and almost alien-like forms. It’s one of my favorite things to get lost in, whether on a hike or just examining the surface of a rock in my own backyard.
In the past, I used to collect lichen-covered rocks to bring a bit of nature into my home and garden. But I eventually learned, to my disappointment, that lichen doesn’t survive for long once removed from its natural habitat. That realization sparked something in me—a kind of creative challenge. I began experimenting with clay bodies, layering glazes, and exploring surface techniques that might capture the essence of lichen in a lasting, sustainable way.
The result is what I’m now calling the Lichen Collection—a series of sculptural ceramic objects that blend organic form with functional design. The collection includes bookends, vases, bowls, and other pieces, each one inspired by the unpredictable, yet beautiful ways lichen grows and spreads. I’ve been playing with texture, color, and glaze chemistry to replicate the soft crustiness, the splash of unexpected green, and that gorgeous mottling you see in nature.
Specs:
Vase measures approx. 5.5’’ T 2.5’’ W.
Lightly handwash. Avoid scrubbing the exterior of the vase due to its delicateness.

Here is a reel of bits and pieces of my tile-making process. If you're working on making your own tiles, here are a few tips + tricks I learned along the way.
I’ve been working on building my dollhouse and collecting or making the decor for almost a year. I thought it would be easier to build but I learned that it takes a lot of patience and time to complete a project like this.
After 3 firings and 28 hours of working on 3 ceramic garden signs, I’m very lucky all of them came out okay. A third of my signs end up cracking at some point in the process. I’ve learned the hard way to not rush and take my time. The worst is when a piece cracks in the last firing. 🥲 This is a risky business but one I chose to take a chance with.
Tips and tricks for pressing flowers: The best flowers that will hold their shape and color better for pressing include ones that are naturally flat and have single-layered petals. You can use zinnias, delphiniums, pansies, violas, daisies, geraniums, cosmos, and other petite blooms.
